Organizational Change and Sustainability Expert, Advisor and Educator
For over twenty years, Hilary Samuel has helped leaders create healthy and effective workplaces. An expert in transformative learning, she crafts programs for change at individual, team and organizational levels.
Hilary works with clients to foster employee engagement and culture change, employing a solution-focused approach and facilitating a shift in mindset – a prerequisite for real change. Her experience from within organizations allows her to understand the dynamics of transition and the conditions necessary for organizational change. She has held internal consulting positions with the City of Ottawa and with the Toronto General Hospital.
Her involvement with sustainable development began early, as an environmental educator and high school science teacher. Hilary then integrated these two professional streams as a college professor, teaching Leadership, Governance and Sustainability. In 2010, she became a faculty member of the Green Business Program at Algonquin College.
Hilary has taught on four continents and has worked with people from all walks of life and a diversity of cultures. She was Director of Global Learning for Digital Opportunity Trust, working with young leaders in Africa and the Middle East to introduce sustainable livelihood projects within their communities. As a consultant, she has worked with a wide variety of industries including high tech, manufacturing, service, finance and health as well as municipal, provincial and federal governments.
Hilary studied Biology (BSc, Concordia University), Organizational Development (MA, Concordia University) and Ecopsychology (MA, Viridis Graduate Institute). She is a member of the International Society of Sustainability Professionals (ISSP).
